Westervelt welcomes its first female students

Fellow of the Chartered Accountants of Canada, James Washington Westervelt Jr. begins working at Westervelt College with his father
1896
Westervelt assists in founding the Business Educator’s Association of Canada (1896)
1897
Westervelt located at YMCA Building, top floor (King St. by Wellington/Waterloo)
1905
James Westervelt Sr. serves as Chairman of the London Board of Education
1917
Westervelt re-locates to 463 Richmond St. (formerly Westin Hotel, then Lucan Stagecoach Lines)
1920
W.F. Marshall assumes ownership of the college.
1955
N.L. Thomson assumes ownership of the college.
1962
L.G. Lougheed assumes ownership of the college.
1972
The college re-locates to 190 Wortley Rd.
1991
Donna Doerr, an experienced instructor joins Westervelt as the Principal. The College, and a piece of London’s history was in dire straits
1992
Donna and Allan Doerr purchase Westervelt College and set to the task of rebuilding an educational institution that has been part of London’s history since 1885
1994
Westervelt College receives the Community Service Award from the National Association of Career Colleges
1995
Dr. and Mrs. Doerr build a new, 4-storey, 40,000 square foot campus on the corner of Wellington St. and Bradley Ave.
1996
Westervelt is a Finalist at the Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Achievement Awards
Donna Doerr wins Ontario Woman Entrepreneur of the Year
Donna Doerr wins Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year
Westervelt receives the Dr. James E. Boone Award in recognition of excellence in fundraising for the Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario
1997
Donna Doerr is a Regional Finalist for Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year
1999
Ontario Restaurant Hotel and Motel Association awards Westervelt “Supplier of the Year” for supplying the best graduates for employment in the Hospitality Industry
2000
A baby is born in an ambulance on the front lawn of College. The baby is promptly awarded a full Tuition Scholarship (News coverage by the National Post, London Free Press, & the Globe and Mail)
2001
London Police Service Recruiting and Training recognition for dedication and commitment to the training of the members of the London Police Service
2009
Westervelt College receives London Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Achievement Award
2010
Westervelt Celebrates 125 Years and over 48,000 graduates.
Westervelt receives recognition from the Prime Minister, the Premier and the Attorney General: “The enterprise and the hard work of those who have built Westervelt College over these many decades is an accomplishment that has benefitted the community and our province.”
